"The BCS Experience: History-Arts-Culture-Politics in Review and Discussion." This week, tune in to hear from renowned playwright/director Yvette Heyliger and a producing partner in her own company, Twinbiz. "What Would Jesus Do?", which Heyliger wrote and directed, swept the 2010 AUDELCO Recognition Awards for Excellence in Black Theatre, winning seven awards including Dramatic Production of the Year for the producer, the Obie Award winning Billie Holiday Theatre, and the August Wilson Playwright Award for Heyliger. Yvettes plays have been selected and presented on the main stage at the National Black Theatre Festival several times, and have garnered critical praise, awards, and numerous grants over the years. As a producer, Yvette, along with her producing partner and twin sister Yvonne Farrow(Twinbiz), received the first Emerging Producer Award from the National Black Theatre Festival in 2011. In addition to discussing Yvettes body of work, we will be discussing the many playwrights and artists around the nation who have come together to address the gun violence issue through their respective arts and writings..
